Inter Miami might have the perfect chance to bury their brutal loss against the NY Red Bulls this Saturday. After suffering a 4-0 defeat, the Lionel Messi-led team will now travel home as they host New York City in their 7th MLS fixture. Tata Martino will hope that his players can bag a win over their opponents, considering the recent results have raised questions over his ability to lead the team.

New York City has had a horrendous start to its season. The club has managed just a single win from their five games and is languishing in the 15th position in the standings. A win over Inter Miami would give the team the much-needed confidence to make a comeback. However, their job won’t be as easy, considering Miami will have some notable names back in action after the international break.

Inter Miami vs. New York City: Team Updates and Will Lionel Messi Play?

The Herons will be without some of their top names heading into the fixture. Lionel Messi has already been ruled out of the fixture, with the club hoping to keep him fresh for the CONCACAF Champions Cup. New signing Federico Redondo also picked up an injury earlier this week and will miss the next eight weeks of action. Facundo Farias, Benjamin Cremaschi, Ian Fray, and Nicolas Freire are also on the sidelines with injuries and will be unavailable for selection.

Meanwhile, New York City has the same issues, with Talles Magno, Maxi Moralez, and Keaton Parks unavailable because of injuries. However, the team will be boosted by the returns of Tomas Romero, Jovan Mijatovic, Christian McFarlane, Mitja Ilenic, Tayvon Gray, and Monsef Bakrar as they return from international duty.
