Inter Miami will be back for the MLS playoff action for the third time against Atlanta United. Hosting the Five Stripes at Chase Stadium again on Saturday night, the Herons would be looking to secure a much-needed victory against their formidable rivals—especially after how things were in their last meeting.
Tata Martino had endured a shocking 2-1 defeat against Rob Valentino’s side on Saturday night. Although a goal just before halftime from David Martinez gave Lionel Messi and Co. the perfect lead, the latter 45 minutes saw Atlanta make a divine comeback, courtesy of Derrick Williams and Xande Silva’s stoppage-time winner.
Ironically, the first encounter was won by Inter Miami with a similar scoreline. The Supporters’ Shield champions took the lead just two minutes into the match with a solid finish from Luis Suarez. Although Atlanta equalized before the first half ended, Jordi Alba netted the winning goal for Tata Martino and his team shortly after the hour mark.
