Inter Miami is aiming to reach for the moon this season. With the MLS season already kicked off, the Herons are leaving no stone unturned in their quest for invincibility. Aside from domestic preparations, their focus currently remains on bolstering their ranks. While they surprisingly showed Jean Mota the door to achieve MLS roster compliance, an arrival is also on the cards, as Matias Rojas is close to joining Lionel Messi and Co.

Just hours ago, the club announced the exit of Mota. Having arrived from Santos in January 2022, the Brazilian midfielder has left for Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A side Esporte Clube Vitória. In his Inter Miami tenure, the 30-year-old made 53 appearances across all competitions, registering 3 goals and 7 assists. Before Mota, DeAndre Yedlin became the victim of roster compliance. The skipper, who was signed from Galatasaray in February 2022, was recently traded to FC Cincinnati for $172,799 in 2024 General Allocation Money (GAM). Interestingly, with these two remarkable exits, Inter Miami has freed up more than $1.5 million in salary cap space. That’s not all!

They are now compliant with MLS constraints and are in a key position to make some signings. Enter Matias Rojas, as journalist Gaston Edul has reported that David Beckham and Co. are close to the signature of the Paraguayan attacking midfielder. The 28-year-old Corinthians star has reportedly caught the eye of Tata Martino, who is eager to add dynamism to the flank.

So far this season, Rojas has made 10 appearances for the Brazilian Serie A side. He’ll certainly be a good addition to the Florida-based club. While Miami is confident about Rojas, will they secure Lionel Messi’s preferred signing?

Luis Suarez came to play alongside Lionel Messi. While this completes the attacking duo, La Pulga is aiming high, as he wants Inter Miami to sign Neymar Jr from Al Hilal. The World Cup winner had seemingly asked his former PSG teammate to opt for the MLS side. The speculation has been growing ever since Neymar responded to Messi’s request

The 31-year-old Brazilian vocally stated, “I hope we can play together again.” Evidently, Neymar is also open to the possibility of donning the pink jersey and completing the long-lost iconic MSN trio. For now, the Al Hilal star is nursing a season-ending injury, and it’s unlikely that Inter Miami will sign him.
