Inter Miami is shooting for the moon this season. Following last season’s disappointment, the David Beckham-owned club is desperate to dominate the American soccer landscape. Aside from sweating on the training ground, the club continues to make off-pitch efforts to bolster its ranks. While numerous speculations have linked a few players to join Lionel Messi and Co., the latest name on the table is none other than Federico Redondo, the son of Real Madrid legend Fernando Redondo.
This shocking report comes from the mouth of renowned Argentinian journalist Germán García Grova, who claims that Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino is eager to bring the defensive midfielder to the DRV PNK Stadium. Grova reports that the Herons have even started negotiations with his club, the Argentinos Jrs. This decision by Miami comes after they suffered a blow in their pursuits of Cristian Medina and Agustín Palavecino.
Notably, Miami had earlier tried to sign Medina from Boca Juniors for $7.5 million, with Botafogo also running in the race. However, Miami’s offer was rejected by Boca. Likewise, the Florida-based club also tried to secure a loan deal for Palavecino with River Plate as well. Unfortunately, the deal collapsed after Miami rejected the idea of including a buyout option since they needed a short-term replacement for the injured Facundo Farias. However, it now seems that their search has finally come to an end with Federico Redondo.

Interestingly, just like his father, Federico also plays in the holding position. His arrival at Inter Miami means he can not only play alongside Sergio Busquets but can perfectly take up the Spaniard’s role. However, there is a major roadblock that Miami can still face in the youngster’s pursuit.

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami aren’t alone in Federico Redondo’s race
Unfortunately, signing Federico Redondo is not a piece of cake for Inter Miami. As per various sources, they would have to tussle with several European giants, including Spanish side Real Madrid, Italy’s AC Milan, and the Premier League duo of Liverpool and Manchester United. Additionally, the German side Wolfsburg is also keeping tabs on Federico.

After coming through the academy ranks, Federico successfully managed to make a breakthrough in the Argentinos Jrs’ starting XI in the previous season. Notably, the 21-year-old has made over 58 appearances for his domestic side across all competitions, notching 2 goals and assists. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Miami can acquire his signing or not.
