Inter Miami played their last MLS game as it marked an end to their 2023 campaign. The Florida-based club lost 1-0 as Kelvin Calderon Vargas scored an early goal for Charlotte FC. In an attempt to win bigger and keep up the winning form from Messi’s inaugural days, David Beckham plans a huge makeover for the club as he wishes to introduce more world-class talents. The manager just confirmed the exit of their Venezuelan striker Josef Martinez as a reunion with Luis Suarez could be on the cards for Lionel Messi.

Martinez was bought by Inter Miami from Atlanta United in 2023. The former Torino player played 40 games for the Herons in which he scored 12 goals and provided 3 assists. Gerardo Martino spoke to the media as he made more revelations about the forward’s departure.

This season, Inter Miami started building their A team with Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets. The club will now head for their Asian Tour in November. In a post-match press conference, the gaffer shed further light on Martinez’s exit.

He said, “Josef did not travel because it is going to be very difficult for him to return to the institution next season. We had been talking about it, and the most prudent thing to do, and what was decided, was for him not to travel for this final game. It would have been a completely unnecessary risk (of injury for him).”

Josef Martinez hasn’t publicly planned his next move yet, although he will be more than willing to continue his future in the MLS. Being a former Atlanta United player, he could be eyeing a reunion with his former club. Meanwhile, reports suggest the Herons are eyeing a major move for the mighty Luis Suarez.

Gerardo Martino’s squad needs more players to bolster play. Currently at Gremio, Suarez can end at Miami as soon as in December.
