The MLS fixture between Inter Miami and Colorado is currently underway. After a poor defeat in midweek’s CONCACAF Champions League, the Herons are back to bounce their way to winning ways. However, there is a bittersweet update amid the ongoing fixture. While star player Lionel Messi has returned to the pitch, Leonardo Campana made his way out of the action after sustaining a knock on his thigh.
The Florida-based club can’t seem to catch a break with injuries, with the 23-year-old star being the latest one to join the recuperation room. Campana went down in the 40th minute, with medics rushing over to take a look at his knock. However, the injury was so grave that it forced Tata Martino to substitute the young forward, with Diego Gomez taking his place. Further reports will determine the extent of the injury and how long it will keep the Ecuadorian out of action. Unfortunately, that’s not the only setback David Beckham’s side has faced so far.

The home side is 0-1 down after Colorado won a penalty just before halftime. Rafael Navarro neatly tucked in the ball from the spot to give the away side a perfect lead. Notably, Campana’s injury comes just days after Miami lost new signing Federico Redondo. The Argentinian youngster’s left lateral collateral ligament (LCL) was compromised, keeping him out of action for up to 8 weeks. Meanwhile, the likes of Ian Fray, Facundo Farías, and Robbie Robinson remain sidelined with their long-term injuries. However, in all of the major blows, there is good news for the Miami faithful, as their favorite player just made his return to the pitch.

Can Lionel Messi reverse Inter Miami’s string of poor results?
Just before the second half was about to begin, Lionel Messi was brought on the pitch as promised. The Argentinian superstar replaced Lawson Sunderland to help Inter Miami find their way back. This is certainly a positive development for the Florida-based club, as Messi returned to action after a two-week absence because of injury. Before his presence, Miami endured a string of poor results.
Aside from a 0-4 thrashing to the New York Red Bulls, they played a 1-1 draw with New York City. Moreover, their last fixture saw them endure a 2-1 loss against Monterrey in the opening leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinals. With Miami currently trailing against Colorado in the match, let’s hope that Messi’s presence changes things. Till then, they shall look at Leo Campana’s injury.
