Inter Miami is approaching the final hurdle of their pre-season. The Herons will be hosting Newell’s Old Boys on Friday night at DRV PNK Stadium. As the preparations to face the Argentinian side continue, Lionel Messi and Co. have some encouraging news. Reports suggest that a potential injury scare of Sergio Busquets has been alleviated.

Already dealing with a lot of setbacks, the Spanish midfielder was the latest addition to Inter Miami’s injury list. The veteran was forced to leave the pitch in just 25 minutes during the previous match against Vissel Kobe, which they lost 4-3 on penalties. He reportedly suffered a blow to the ankle, which raised questions over his return. However, as per the reports from Eduardo Burgos, the 35-year-old’s ankle entorsis is far from being a serious injury. Tests were conducted, which showcased that Busquets can recover earlier than expected. But don’t get too excited!

Inter Miami is in no mood to take risks, as further examinations will be performed to determine the extent of his recovery period. Likewise, it is unclear whether the holding midfielder will start against Newell’s. David Beckham‘s soccer franchise will kick off their MLS campaign against Real Salt Lake next Thursday, February 22. Hence, Tata Martino might be open to giving Busquets a necessary rest. After all, he wants to avoid the star midfielder experiencing a relapse of his ankle sprain and further overcrowding the recovery room, which is already occupied by key players.
