Inter Miami can’t catch a break. The Herons are on their hind legs following the injury to Lionel Messi, with the team looking to ensure La Pulga recovers before the upcoming MLS campaign. It seems like the side now has more trouble on their hands with veteran striker Luis Suarez also joining the Argentine on the injury list. This is a big blow for Inter Miami, as their team is already missing some of their top names who have been on the sidelines because of injury and fitness issues.

Both Messi and Suarez were absent from the team’s 4-1 win over Hong Kong earlier tonight. Head coach Tata Martino provided his reason for keeping their marquee players on the bench during his press conference. The team management will hope that the duo can recover in time for the game against Real Salt Lake on the 22nd of February.

The Uruguayan striker joined Inter Miami with a lot of hype this winter following his exit from Gremio. However, the striker has already picked up an injury and could be absent from the team’s upcoming friendly clash against former J-League champions Vissel Kobe. According to reports, “Luis Suárez was injured and had inflammation in his knees. He picked up the knock versus Al Nassr.”

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are not the only absentees for Inter Miami. The side will also be without the services of young stars Benjamin Cremaschi and Facundo Farias, who are currently out with ligament issues. Inter Miami’s defensive unit has also taken a massive blow before the upcoming season with Ian Fray, Franco Negri, Nicolás Freire, and Sergiy Kryvtsov out for an extended period because of their respective injuries. Twenty-eight-year-old striker Corentin Jean is also amongst the absentees, with the player out with a Grade 2 ACL tier since July.
