Inter Miami may be sitting at the top of Major League Soccer, but the squad’s crisis still continues. Player availability has become an issue for the Florida-based team, with both young and older players getting injured frequently. After Lionel Messi’s return from his injury, key defender Jordi Alba is reportedly out with a significant injury that could potentially sideline him for an extended period. Nevertheless, in positive news for Inter Miami, the number of recoveries seems to be outpacing injuries.
David Beckham’s club will have a packed schedule in the next few weeks. And leading up to their next game versus Nashville on Saturday, it was recently reported that Jordi Alba caught a hamstring injury. However, additional details regarding the duration of his absence and the intensity of the injury will be revealed by coach Tata Martino, when he speaks to the press on Friday.
Meanwhile, three important players were seen back in training after missing a few games. Homegrown player Ian Fray, along with Robert Taylor and Leonardo Campana, were engaging in light exercise, indicating their recovery. Fray, who has been with Miami since 2021, has suffered repeated ACL injuries and has been sidelined most of the time. The last one occurred in July last year, keeping him out for almost nine months.

On the other hand, Campana and Taylor, who have major roles to play, will also be back soon, it seems. Campana sustained a leg injury versus the Colorado Rapids but luckily missed only a single game. Robert Taylor, on the other hand, had a muscle issue against Monterrey but has also made his return. However, it is their captain, Lionel Messi’s availability, that will matter the most amid many other injury concerns.

Additional injuries worry Inter Miami and Lionel Messi
Despite Lionel Messi’s return from a hamstring injury, Inter Miami has few other players sidelined. One of their recent signings, Federico Redondo, caught a left lateral collateral ligament tear in March and is expected to be out for eight months. But the biggest setback has been the loss of Facundo Farias, who has been ruled out due to an ACL injury during the preseason. Farias was supposed to play a major role for Inter Miami in the attack, which was without firepower last year.
Moreover, another defender, Sergiy Kryvtsov, has also been out since the end of March due to hamstring issues. Whether he is expected to be back by Saturday remains to be seen. Overall, the Herons have accumulated a lot of injuries in the last few months.

The club is expected to lose Messi during the 2024 Copa America and will need to fill a huge gap during that period. Hence, it will be important for players to recover and help the team win their first league title.
