FIFA World Cup is going on and everybody thought this tournament would be the headline for all the soccer news throughout its run. It was true for some time, but yesterday something insane occurred in a match played in the Russian league. This incident is making headlines for all the wrong reasons and, for a day, took the spotlight from FIFA WC 2022. Zenit St Petersburg and Spartak Moscow ended the game goalless and fans were ready to see a penalty shootout.

The match was in the 97th minute and Spartak was ready to take a free kick. While preparing Spartak forward, Quincy Promes bumped into Zenit’s Wilmar Barrios. They exchanged words and hell broke loose on the ground. A shocking event that shocked fans in the stadium and all around the world.

When Soccer turned into Royal Rumble

After the heated exchange of words, the game spired into a massive brawl because Zenit’s Rodrigo Prado attempted to kick Promes and other Spartak players. Spartak players raced to resolve the situation, but it turned into everybody exchanging punches and kicks. 

Seeing the situation unfold, substitutes and other supporting staff jumped into the fight. The brawl ended with the referee throwing Red cards like Halloween candy. A total of six players got the red card and one got a yellow. After the situation got resolved, the match continued with Zenit winning 4-2 in shootouts.

A similar situation happened in Turkey where, during a match, Goztepe vs Altay turned bloody when fans clashed and threw flares at each other. Match got interrupted as a fan got seriously injured. 

As players were waiting for the ambulance to take the injured fans. However, one fan walked onto the ground and attacked Altay’s goalkeeper with the corner flag. In the video, the goalkeeper seems to be hurt as the fan hit him on the head.

FIFA banned Russia from the World Cup because of the invasion of Ukraine. Speaking of the FIFA World Cup, Fans are celebrating as Lionel Messi took his team to victory against Mexico, keeping their World cup hopes alive.

In other World Cup news, Spain and Germany’s match ended in a 1-1 draw. Costa Rica shocked fans by beating Japan 1-0. Last edition’s runners-up Croatia swept Canada by beating them 4-1.
