The Riyadh Season Cup is a tournament with Al Nassr, Inter Miami, & Al Hilal. The match between Al Nassr & Inter Miami was dubbed as the ‘Last Dance’, considering how it was expected to be the final clash between the soccer icons. Messi & Ronaldo had faced each other 36 times previously and both have also exited Europe. Hence, the question marks regarding Ronaldo’s fitness was a major worry regarding his participation in the tournament.

However, the Last Dance is not exactly true to its name. In fact, Messi & Ronaldo can face off again in the future. And there are two compelling reasons as to why.

Al Nassr vs Inter Miami might not exactly be a ‘Last Dance’

Al Nassr play in the Asian Champions League while Inter Miami is participating in the CONCACAF Champions League. Provided, the two sides win the competitions, they could meet in the FIFA Club World Cup. However, Ronaldo’s route is slightly harder considering that the Asian Champions League is more competitive than it’s American equivalent.

The second reason and the more obvious one is potential contract extensions for the duo. Both Messi and Ronaldo’s contracts expire in 2025 but considering their impressive form, the clubs could be persuaded to extend their stay. If they do extend, it is likely that we get more matches like the ‘Last Dance’ in the future.
