The Saudi League is currently on a break because of the AFC Asia Cup. However, Al Nassr will play several friendlies that would benefit the team on and off the pitch. But ahead of the games, a serious disruption has derailed their plans as Cristiano Ronaldo was pictured training with a bandaged leg. It will be interesting to see whether there is a further update on this. Fans in China will hope that the injury is not significant and is a minor knock. It is because the Al Nassr star and his teammates prepare to visit the country for friendlies.

The Knights of Najd will also hope that the Portuguese forward makes an appearance in both games. Notably, they are receiving $20 million in total for their visit. If the 38-year-old is missing, this would certainly disappoint the organizers and probably incur losses. On the other hand, most of the fans will pray for his speedy recovery as he faces Al Hilal and Inter Miami from 1st February in the Riyadh Cup.

There is no doubt that fans will be pumped for possibly the last dance between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. But, manager Luis Castro will also have to be mindful of the team’s situation in the league.

Luis Castro cannot afford to take a risk on the fitness of his leading goal scorer for friendlies

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the major reasons Al Nassr has continued to stay in the race for the league title. Despite his goals, his team remains seven points behind league leader Al Hilal. The Knights of Najd are also involved in the Kings Cup Semi-finals and Asian Champions League. Hence, it is on Luis Castro to decide whether the friendlies are worth more than three trophies.

There is no doubt a lot of money rides on these friendlies. Regardless, if the 38-year-old suffers an injury at this stage, the club will have an enormous setback in finding a replacement in the January transfer window.
