Yet, at 38, Ronaldo is not ready to call it quits on his illustrious career just yet. With an unwavering determination to secure glory at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Portuguese superstar is set to take a big leap. Not only has he informed his domestic club, Al Nassr, of his desire to retire in 2027, but he also wants to renew his $500 million contract.

While currently immersed in the quest to guide his national team through the qualifiers for the 2024 Euro, Ronaldo’s vision stretches far beyond the European competition.

Perhaps, Ronaldo has taken the ‘age is just a number’ quote too seriously, as a massive decision regarding his future has come out. At 38 years old, one might assume that the veteran is approaching the twilight of his career. But it seems the CR7 has other plans and is gearing up for the long haul.

Recently, just before leaving for international duty, Ronaldo informed Al Nassr that he wanted to renew his contract till 2027. This comes from the mouth of renowned Saudi journalist, Ali Al-Harbi, who insists the former Real Madrid man wants to participate in the 2026 World Cup while playing for Al Nassr. Later in 2027, he will be hanging up his boots.

Notably, his current deal with Al Nassr runs till 2025. However, in order to get into the 2026 WC, he wants to give two more years of service to the Riyadh side. This is indeed a massive revelation regarding Ronaldo’s future plans. Earlier, the legendary player had expressed his desire to retire at Al Nassr.

But the striker is currently 38, and by the next edition of the prestigious competition, he will turn 41. One would doubt if his age would keep up with him, but then again he is Cristiano Ronaldo. Anything is possible for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Additionally, before the 2026 World Cup, he has another big challenge in front of him: the 2024 Euro. Winning it would perfectly send a statement in the soccer world that Ronaldo is ambitious to lift more silverware with Portugal and they may dominate the next World Cup. For now, only time will reveal the outcome of these ambitious aspirations.
