In a shocking turn of events, Germany defeated France 2-1 in the absence of Kylian Mbappe. After Hansi Flick’s departure, the DFB is in the hands of soccer icon and caretaker manager, Rudi Voller. Die Nationalmannschaft’s win has upset many French pundits, who believed it would be a stroll in the park for Les Blues, as one French critic labeled Mbappe’s presence as “indispensable”.

Hansi Flick was sacked as the German manager after a disappointing World Cup performance and going winless in their last five fixtures. Call it a new manager bounce, but a change in management seems to have done the trick.

Speaking in his defense, the French pundit sheds light on what makes Mbappe a clutch player for France.

French-Italian Journalist and Columnist, Daniel Riolo said, “There’s a tendency to put Mbappé’s importance in the French team into perspective. Tonight we can see that the attack lacks pep and dynamism. Of course, he’s indispensable.”

Kylian Mbappe is just 24 and has already clocked in over 5,000 minutes for the national team. He has scored 40 goals and provided 25 assists in 71 games. As Riolo explains, the absence of Mbappe diminishes the pep and dynamism he creates in the forward position. The lack of which has cost France this time.
