Now,that this craze has hit one of the local areas in the city of Rafaela, they decided to name a neighborhood after Lionel Messi according to a report.
The area is a newly established locality in Argentina that was just formed in April. Located in the province of Santa Fe, the area’s current name is Barrio 42, which will be changed to Lionel Messi. The residents came together with many other names, such as “Doctor Favaloro” and “Las Colonias,” and chose their captain’s name with a view to creating something memorable and leaving a mark.

The process is in the final stages. One of its commission members stated, “First, we were the last neighborhood to materialize; second, we formed the neighborhood commission; and, now, we specify the name of the neighborhood, which is something extraordinary and that will represent us for the rest of our lives.” The tribute arrived after Argentina’s incredible run in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
