Luis Suarez slams the referees and FIFA
After the game, Luis Suarez broke into tears as he couldn’t control his emotions. He later appeared for an interview and slammed the controversial decision to deny Uruguay a penalty.
“I see a penalty to Edi [Edinson Cavani] because they cut his run,” Suarez said. “Edi puts his body forward. Also, Darwin’s play is very clear. They aren’t excuses, but incredible penalties are being called in the world cup. Incredible things are being called and there is the referee committee.. FIFA again. That has to at least try to explain itself better.”
Not just Suarez, but the whole Uruguay team confronted the referee over the decision that could have changed their fortunes. Edinson Cavani, while heading into the dressing room after full-time, slammed the VAR screen.
