The arrival of Lionel Messi has caused optimism for the Inter Miami faithful. Starting the season low on points, the team finally returns to where they desired to be. Moreover, David Beckham and his partners look to add a few more pieces to complete the puzzle. Yet, one of the critical issues regarding it is the International Roster Slot. In light of the recent signings of Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, the club seeks to further fortify its roster.

One player they have targeted is the World Cup winner Sergio Ramos. The former PSG teammate of Messi aims to leave the soccer club and is keeping his options open. As they have three sensational players, Inter Miami played one Joker card in an attempt to lure the superstar.

To help with the player’s purchase, Inter Miami notably made a deal with rivals and Beckham’s former club LA Galaxy. Significantly, they purchased the 2023 International Roster Slot from the Los Angeles Galaxy in exchange for $125,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money (GAM). Hence, it would help the team to bring in one more player to bolster the squad. With the defense needing a shoring up, Ramos fits the bill perfectly for the team to stop conceding goals.

For international players, the league has around 224 international roster slots allotted to the 28 clubs in 2022. Each club can trade these slots with each other. Some clubs have more than eight slots, while others have lesser than eight. With the ability to trade with each club, there are no limits on the international roster slots. Thus, Inter Miami pulled all the stops to trade for one extra slot, in a bid to bring in probably Ramos.
