Is the media unfairly targeting Cristiano Ronaldo despite his unmatched global appeal and massive following?

Imagine the number of followers Cristiano Ronaldo has. To say it’s massive would be an understatement. There probably won’t be a superstar like him in terms of influence. We saw Beckham having a similar fame in the 2000s. However, the Portuguese sensation skipped past Beckham and several other athletes to become the most followed soccer player in the world. Yet, criticisms? Ronaldo’s no stranger to that either. He receives criticism even if he misses a penalty or performs poorly.

In fact, he stated how the press quickly latched on to him if he had a terrible game. Our minds go back to the Euro 2024. Who would have imagined Ronaldo to miss a penalty? Well, he faced the full wrath of the fans after his miss. With his new YouTube channel breaking records every second, CR7 swiftly criticized the press for pulling him down on the UR Cristiano channel.

He stated, “It’s much more easy to criticize than appreciate what you really have. We know how the press, how it works. If you speak good, it don’t sell. You have to speak bad. It is normal,” in a way, true how fans perceive Ronaldo.

And if you’re speaking about Cristiano, you’re coming in the first page. It’s normal. Because I’m the most followed guy in the world. It’s not because of my pretty face. But in everything you know. Why Cristiano is the number one follow in the world. Why do you think?” stated Ronaldo, a golden mine for most media houses.

Yet, the man knows his worth and understands why people follow him in whatever he does. He ended by saying, “In some way, they like me. And the criticism all is going to exist, and it’s part of the business for me. For me, this is not a problem.”
