Emma Hayes set a sensational legacy at Chelsea, winning 16 major honors in 12 years. She led the team from the front and completely dominated the league. Winning 5 consecutive leagues became stunning, and everyone could do nothing but applaud her achievements. Later, she went to the USWNT after leaving the club and won the Olympic gold medal. Gold standards, right? But the club replaced her with Sonia Bompastor, who has carved out a legacy.
Yet, it won’t be easy to match her legacy. Like, let’s be real. 16 major honors remain no easy feat. Therefore, Bompastor downplayed the emotions with Chelsea and stated it takes time to match her legacy.
Speaking to SkySports, she stated, “It’s normal for people to compare because she had such great success here. I’m really thankful to Emma for the legacy she left me. She had an amazing period and she had great results and the transition takes some time.” The manager spent around 3 years at the club winning the Champions League. Notably, she is the only player and manager to win the Champions League. Therefore, it is one of the best achievements and the perfect manager to lead the team from the front. But she stays humbled.

She stated, “I’m fine [with the comparisons] because Emma is a person and a coach who has a lot of good qualities, so I don’t feel like people are comparing me to a bad person. If I can have the same success as she had at Chelsea, I will be the first person to be happy about that, even if I’m someone different. I’m not Emma Hayes, I have my own personality, I’m trying to bring my own ideas. Yes, some things maybe will be the same and some of those will be different.
Emma Hayes’ legacy will be hard to match!
The legacy set by Hayes becomes tough for most people to match. But Bompastor remains key in bringing her own set of philosophies and tactics to the club. She excels at managing players and helping them improve by offering the right guidance and motivation. Similarly to Emma Hayes, Bompastor excels in attacking football from start to finish. Her teams play with high intensity.

What’s your perspective on:
Can Sonia Bompastor outshine Emma Hayes and lead Chelsea to WSL and UWCL glory?
Have an interesting take?
Yet, we still have doubts about her matching Hayes. Think of Jurgen Klopp who left Liverpool. He spent nine years at the club and Arne Slot came in to replace him. Similarly, Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United left the club 20 years ago, but David Moyes came in and we don’t need to explain further.
To sum up, Bompastor has a job in her hands. Win. You start winning, the crowd will be on your side. If you don’t, those Emma Hayes claims come up.
