Rodallega, or Rodagol as he is known in Colombia, addressed the Messi comparison in a recent interview with Diario As. He said, “I’m not better than Messi. I’m not better than anyone.” It seems Hugo is tired of the Messi comparisons. Moreover, he also revealed that he never claimed to be better than Messi. Hugo clarified the situation on ESPN, “That day he asked me: Do you think you’re the best in the tournament?” best of the tournament, but I don’t think I’m better than Messi,” I told him.”

Hence, it is quite evident that Rodagols’ words were misquoted. He also explained his disappointment about how the issue is still being talked about in Colombia. He added that it was the Argentine press who started this story after interviewing him. Though the Colombian does not remember the name of the journalist, he does remember that the journalist told him, “Hugo, we congratulate you in Argentina, because you are the figure of the championship and scorer.

Rodallega certainly doesn’t seem to enjoy the Messi comparisons. However, factoring in his incredible speed and goal-scoring abilities, he does possess some of Messi’s characteristics. In fact, Cristiano Ronaldo’s current coach had likened Rodallega to Messi before.
