Amid all this excitement, the upcoming World Cup will also be superstar Megan Rapinoe‘s last. It truly is the end of an era for American soccer. However, not all USWNT veterans plan to retire like Megan Rapinoe. Yes, superstar Alex Morgan is here to stay.

Ahead of the World Cup, Alex Morgan told in an interview that she begs to differ from her teammate Megan Rapinoe. Morgan remarked she is far from hanging her boots and is now living in the moment.

Unlike Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan has not thought of retirement

On Saturday, two-time World Cup winner Megan Rapinoe announced she will retire after the end of the National Women’s Soccer League, and the upcoming World Cup will be her last. Megan Rapinoe’s retirement is now a talk of the town in soccer circles and the FIFA WWC is on the doorstep. Soccer buffs would unsurprisingly be concerned about fellow USWNT veteran Alex Morgan and her future.

In an interview, Alex Morgan spilled the beans on her future. “Right now I’m taking it one season at a time. My body feels good, and I feel like I’m in the moment right now, so I’m not looking too far ahead,” Alex Morgan told People. The 34-year-old added that she would be staying in her current club San Diego Wave FC for the time being. Furthermore, the USWNT forward revealed she respects Rapinoe’s decision and is excited to partake in the Women’s World Cup with Rapinoe.

Morgan gives her two cents on Rapinoe’s retirement

In the interview, Alex Morgan just proclaimed she supports Megan Rapinoe’s decision to retire. Morgan said she is happy that Rapinoe got the chance to call it a day. “Not a lot of athletes get the opportunity to announce their retirement in the way that they want to, and she deserves that. So I’m just really happy for her,” said Morgan.

The interviewer asked Morgan if she is stressed to go to soccer’s biggest stage for the final time with Rapinoe. The 34-year-old remarked she is far from stressed. She pointed out that the unity and rapport within the USWNT team has become the best over the years. Therefore, she and the team look forward to the FIFA Women’s World Cup with excitement, rather than stress. Let us hope they put this excitement to work and aid Megan Rapinoe to have her ‘last dance’ in style.
