The Egypt national team played an entertaining 2-2 draw against Ghana. Despite the valuable point, they suffered a crucial loss. Their star player, Mohamed Salah, suffered a muscle injury. However, what frustrated several fans was that he traveled to his club Liverpool’s facilities to start his recovery. Some of them did not like him making the trip in the middle of the AFCON tournament. However, days later, Mohamed Salah broke his silence regarding the issue.

Salah said, “Yesterday I started the treatment and rehabilitation program and I will do everything possible to be ready as soon as possible and return to the national team as was agreed upon from the beginning. I also love it and its people, try harder.”

Initially, the media had reported that the muscle injury would keep the Liverpool star out for one month. However, to the delight of the fans, the statement from Salah indicates that the injury will be short-term. Egypt will face DR Congo three days later in the Round of 16. Hence, it is very important the concerned medical team can at least try and make sure that he can start from the bench.

The fans and his teammates will hope that the 31-year-old can return to the starting line-up for the next match. As far as his treatment is concerned, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp faced flak from Egyptians.
