There is a chance in hell for Real Madrid to play in the English Premier League. The same goes for any PL side to be in Spain’s La Liga. But for argument’s sake, imagine Real Madrid in the Premier League. Will they be able to do well, considering their star-studded roster and stellar European pedigree? Besides, Madrid has many times ousted English powerhouses on the European stage. Well, former PL stars Gary Lineker and Micah Richards think Madrid will struggle to chase the English silverware. But Alan Shearer begs to differ.
In a recent episode of the Rest is Football podcast, a fan asked the hosts if Real Madrid would win the Premier League, should they join this season? Gary Lineker said a Madrid squad from five years ago won’t win the PL. He added the current squad will also fall short. Then, Alan Shearer intervened. “If they join next year and they’ve got Mbappe, maybe,” said Shearer. “Oh, that’s a good chance,” said both Lineker and Richards in unison. Richards added it would be unfair for opponents to face a side that houses Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior.

The rumor mill has played its part in fueling up the Mbappe saga. Per rumors, the 25-year-old secretly agreed to join Real Madrid in the summer. But those remain rumors alone. Meanwhile, PSG reportedly gave the French captain a mouth-watering offer, which could see him earn north of $100 million a year. Moreover, Mbappe recently said he is very doubtful about leaving PSG to join Los Blancos. Likewise, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is also quite unsure about the Frenchman’s potential switch to the Spanish capital.

Both Madrid and Mbappe have grown dubious about the deal shortly after La Liga president Javier Tebas said it has more than 50% chance of happening. The drama will only end when Kylian Mbappe chooses to make a final decision. It goes on until then. And the Alan Shearers of the world will bet on Real Madrid’s Premier League prospects, thinking the 2018 World Champion would join Madrid one day. What are your thoughts on the Kylian Mbappe saga?
