Can Ryan Reynolds' Hollywood charm and Rio Ferdinand's football expertise make Wrexham the next big thing?

It seems like there is no end to the ambitions of Wrexham AFC. Just a few weeks ago, we saw Rob McElhenney present Gareth Bale with an intriguing offer to come out of retirement and play for the Red Dragons. Now Ryan Reynolds seems to have gone a step further and the Hollywood star has done so by audaciously presenting an offer to Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand.

Although Bale rejected his offer, there is hope in this Rio Ferdinand situation. Despite Reynolds’ audacious offer for the 45-year-old retired player to play, there is a chance fans might see a unique partnership build between the two.

Recently, Ryan Reynolds and his co-actor Hugh Jackman have been on a publicity tour for their upcoming movie ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. Rio Ferdinand also got an opportunity to interact with the dynamic duo on his YouTube channel. During the trio’s conversation, the Premier League legend unsurprisingly brought Wrexham. Seizing the opportunity, the clever chairman offered Ferdinand an offer to join his side.

When the ex-defender showed respect for his Wrexham endeavor, Reynolds replied, “How much respect are you willing to relocate in?” Curious, Ferdinand inquired ‘in what capacity’ The Deadpool star wanted him at the club. While the Hollywood star showed interest in the center-back returning to play, the Englishman fully shut down the possibility of saying, “I can’t play no more.”

Fortunately, that was not the end of this conversation. Ferdinand went on to add, “But I’d help you off the pitch, I’d help you, man.” And with a serious look, Reynolds replied, “I could use some of that.” While nothing is official at the moment, this certainly is an interesting development that is bound to leave every Wrexham fan interested. As the potential signing remains uncertain, Wrexham continues to make significant moves in the transfer market with their recent acquisitions.

For Wrexham, the start of the summer transfer window was no doubt a slow one. However, the floodgates seem to have opened with the statement with the signing of Arthur Okonkwo. Wrexham’s League Two hero now has joined the team as a permanent member. Along with signing the ex-Arsenal star, Phil Parkinson managed to get his hands on another ex-Premier League star in the form of center-back Lewis Brunt.

Moreover, the latest name on the Wrexham transfer list is George Dobson. The 26-year-old defender played for League One side Charlton City but now has become part of Phil Parkinson’s squad on a three-year deal. While Rob McElhhney and Ryan Reynolds might not have gotten their wish of signing Gareth Bale, there is no doubt that Wrexham is sparing no effort in preparation for their upcoming League One challenge.
