“I Would Have Red, White, and Blue On” – Hollywood Superstar Matthew McConaughey Explains Why His Family Is Divided on Supporting Brazil or the USA at the FIFA World Cup 2022

FIFA WC 2022 is in the knockout stage, and fans expect glory for their team. Many teams made it to the stage, backing some of the shocking results. South Korea last night defeated Portugal and secured 2nd position in the group stage and qualified for the round of 16. Before the tournament kicked off, many experts counted Japan as the underdog but they proved everybody wrong by beating Spain and Germany. Veteran USA footballer Landon Donovan has predicted his picks for the tournament’s knockout stages. Hollywood superstar Matthew McConaughey has something to say about it.

Starting with an early hiccup, Argentina qualified as they won the next two matches of the group stages. Portugal was doing well in their first two matches as they won against Uruguay and Ghana. They managed to top the table even after losing to South Korea. Morocco also stunned everybody with their performance, plus a very underwhelming performance from Belgium helped them qualify.

In his prediction, which he posted on 19th November 2022, some teams failed to qualify and some unexpected teams took their place in the round of 16. For some names, Germany failed to qualify and Canada is out of the tournament too.

Landon Donovan predicted that the final will be between Brazil and the USA. Hollywood superstar Matthew McConaughey recently commented on the prediction as the host asked him about supporting their favorite teams in the World Cup, as his wife is from Brazil.

The actor jokingly talked about how they would enjoy the match together and support their favorite teams.

Matthew McConaughey said, “We’d be there live, I would have red, white, and blue on. My wife would have a yellow jersey on, and then I would have to call the kids around the corner and give them a little bit of, ‘hey! Get your head right, with what colors you are gonna be wearing today, bud’.”

However, the legend made the prediction on the 19th of November, when the teams were still fighting for the knockout stage. Many teams that Donovan predicted failed to qualify for the round of 16. That is not the only problem with the prediction. The USMNT and Brazil are essentially in the same bracket.

Even if the teams win all their matches, they will eventually meet in Semi-finals where only one team will proceed to the finals. Fans, however, will hope to see the clash and see their team proceed in the biggest event in soccer.
