Everyone has the potential to be star-struck, even the likes of Megan Rapinoe. Before joining the USWNT camp to train for the upcoming SheBelieves Cup, Megan Rapinoe talked about one such incident. Megan, who had missed the friendlies against New Zealand while recovering from knee injuries got back in training and will be a major part of USWNT in the upcoming matches against Canada, Japan, and Brazil. 

When Megan Rapinoe met Jim Carrey

In a recent podcast with Debbie Millman, Megan Rapinoe was caught off guard when Debbie started by asking about how Megan feels about Hollywood star Jim Carrey. The Mask legend had the soccer star struck during the super bowl last year. Although they went on talking about sports and Megan’s career, her interaction with Carrey is something new for Megan Rapinoe.

While talking about the incident, Megan said, “I was at the Super Bowl last year and you walk out. It was like droves of people. I don’t really geek out over celebrity at all. I always find it interesting, it’s like what are you going to do with the picture that you chased after this person for? But let me tell you, he was riding in a golf cart or something, chased after him, and in just typical loser fan fashion, went to take the picture and actually turned the phone off.”

Megan went on to say that she did manage to take the picture with Jim Carrey. USWNT star also made it clear that it was the only time she had freaked out and run down a celebrity like this.

Talking about a better plan for women’s soccer

A couple of weeks ago, Megan Rapinoe had put English soccer into her crosshair. While talking about the glaring lack of funds for women’s soccer, Rapinoe lashed out at the English soccer system. She called this thing ‘disgraceful’. Megan has worked a lot with her teammates to bring equality to soccer in the States.

She was one of the poster faces of The USWNT battle against the US Soccer Federation for equal pay. Not only did USWNT win that battle, but this inspired congress to pass a law affecting every sport. The bill, equal pay for equal play, meant that any athlete who will represent the USA on the international stage will be paid the same regardless of their gender.
