The fans are gearing up for the next El Classico on March 19. Apart from the usual hype, the fans are quite confused about another piece of unique news on the internet. Various sources claim that FC Barcelona will have a popular music artist’s logo on their shirt for their upcoming game against Real Madrid.

This is mainly because of FC Barcelona’s sponsorship deal with Spotify.

FC Barcelona to feature a Grammy Award winner on their jersey

FC Barcelona will print the popular Spanish singer, Rosalia’s logo on their jerseys for the upcoming El Classico. This is happening mainly because of the contract between the Spanish soccer club and Spotify. The sponsorship deal allows Spotify to explore the possibility of changing the front of the club’s jerseys for certain games. However, fans are not too pleased with this deal anymore.

Many fans were visibly unhappy with the announcement. The simple reason is that FC Barcelona lost their game against last Real Madrid when they changed the front of the jersey. At that time, the club changed the front of their jersey to Drake’s Owl logo.

A smart fan indicated that he wanted Shakira’s logo on the front of the jersey. This comment was in reference to the controversial public feud between Shakira and Gerard Pique.

A few fans have already declared the new deal an unlucky one. They are sincerely urging the club to focus on results and not the hype around this deal. This begs the question, what happened the last time when the club unveiled Drake’s owl logo on their jersey?

In October 2022, the La Liga soccer giant announced that the players would wear jerseys with Drake’s owl logo. This gesture was to mainly celebrate the rapper’s monumental achievement. Drake became the first artist to cross 50 billion streams on Spotify. It doesn’t end there. The players also wore special training kits before the game. The warm-up gear featured the iconic number 50 indicating 50 billion streams.

The fans were excited about this gesture at first. However, they then remembered the infamous Drake curse. FC Barcelona ended up losing that game 3-1. Nevertheless, the fans then termed this entire sponsorship deal with Spotify as ‘unlucky’. This is the main reason why the announcement of Rosalia featuring on FC Barcelona’s jersey is receiving mixed reactions.
