In a clip from David Beckham’s Netflix docuseries, ‘Beckham‘, his wife Victoria Beckham can be seen talking about the public humiliation and bullying suffered by her husband. David Beckham became one of the most hated players across England in the late 1990s following his red card against Diego Simeone in the World Cup.
“I mean, the absolute hate, the public bullying, to another level. He was depressed, absolutely clinically depressed. I still want to kill these people.”
Fans all around England were fuming with the England star following his incident. The player in a clip from the documentary can be seen talking about how things got hard to a stage where he felt alone and vulnerable. “What I went through was so extreme. The whole country hated me. Hated me. It changed my life. I felt very vulnerable and alone. Wherever I went, I got abused every single day. People look at you in a certain way, spit at you, abuse you, come up to your face, and say some of the things that they said. That was difficult.”

The Inter Miami owner had one of the worst incidences in his career during the 1998 World Cup that sent his year on a downward spiral. Fans across the country were absolutely livid with the player’s red card and did not mask their feelings while making their opinion heard.
