But how did this iconic celebration come into existence?

Cristiano Ronaldo details the origin of his celebration

In 2019, in an interview, Ronaldo explained the origin of his celebration. “We were playing against Chelsea and I just scored a goal. And I did Siuuu,” Cristiano said. “To be honest, it was natural and, since then, I started to do it. I feel the fans’ support when they see me do the Cristiano Siuuu celebration. I say ‘wow.’ Since then, I have continued like that.”

The celebration has its origins in his time in Real Madrid. After scoring a goal against Chelsea, he instinctively shouted ‘Siu’, which simply means ‘Yes’ in Spanish. Since that moment, the celebration has become synonymous with Ronaldo and has been adopted by fans as a way to show their support for the superstar.
