While Messi certainly has some high-profile fans, one name recently got added to the list. 15 times Grammy award winner Adele talked about Messi in her recent concert. Her fans had encircled her and talked about her thoughts about Argentina winning against the Netherlands.
She said, “Thank God Argentina won on penalties. I love you, Messi, I love you.”
This statement came after Argentina beat the Netherlands in a very close and heated match. With this win, Messi has come one step closer to winning the trophy.
A record-breaking game against the Netherlands
The match began normally, but in the 35th minute, Messi gave a pass to Nahuel Molina, which he easily converted into a goal.
That was his 5th assist in the knockout stages of the world cup. He has surpassed Pele, who previously had the record of 4 assists. Somehow, the match got into a shootout after two quick goals and an unimaginable 17 yellow cards. In the end, Emiliano Martinez became the hero and kept Argentina in the tournament as he made some fantastic saves in the penalty shootout.
