The French national team has been a huge success at an international level in soccer. But its premier league has recently been subverted by Cristiano Ronaldo. To an already existing fury for being called the farmer’s league, Ligue1 is now fighting back. After posting a troll picture on its Spanish X (previously Twitter) handle, one of its club’s coaches challenged Ronaldo by inviting him ‘to come on the field.’
Al Nassr’s captain has always boasted about playing in multiple leagues like La Liga and Serie A. But the Portuguese captain has now earned some heavy criticism after commenting on a tournament he never had experience with.

Cristiano Ronaldo asked for an on-field test of his statement
Small trolls among the fans could be ignored, but being undermined by one of the most influential players has not been taken for granted by Stade Brestois 29 aka Brest’s coach Eric Roy. The 56-year-old manager reacted, saying, “I invite him to come out on the pitch. I don’t know if he would have appreciated it. It’s not that I don’t agree, but Cristiano Ronaldo has never played in Ligue 1. How can he give himself a calibration? You have to have played there.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has been a game-changer for the Saudi Pro League, leading it to buy players such as Neymar, Karim Benzema, and Sadio Mane. After winning multiple accolades at the Globe Soccer Awards, Ronaldo said, “I think the Saudi league is not worse than France’s league, in my opinion.” “In the French league, I think you have two-three teams with a good level. In Saudi, I think it is more competitive.”
However, Roy made a lighter note of his comment, saying, “That’s his opinion, which we respect, but after that, there’s not much to say about it.” Ronaldo, who has been a heavy scorer in all the leagues he has played in, also has an impressive record against French clubs. The player scored 14 goals and provided 8 assists in 24 UEFA Champions League appearances against Ligue 1 sides.

Ligue 1’s other digs at Ronaldo
Nevertheless, after moving out of Europe, Cristiano Ronaldo played just one friendly against PSG last year prior to the current strengthened squad, which they lost 4-5. A picture from the same game in which Kylian Mbappe lays his fingers on CR7’s face was posted by them on X.

Additionally, their social media also posted a picture of his archrival Lionel Messi’s pic with a GOAT banner in the background as a sign of retaliation. After calling the Saudi League better than the MLS, Ronaldo now chooses to compare it with the European leagues. It looks like the love for the Middle East has got the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner on cloud nine.
