Manchester United legend David Beckham once shared an interesting incident from the dressing room that made him shave off his head just before the game. Former United coach Sir Alex Ferguson was known for his hairdryer treatment of the players. He never held back onto his players and slammed them whenever they made mistakes.

Even another United great, Cristiano Ronaldo, also underwent the hairdryer treatment from the legendary manager. The incident with Beckham happened in 2000 before the game against Chelsea at Wembley. They took on each other in a Charity Shield game that the Londoners won 2-0. It was one of many incidents that Inter Miami owner had with Ferguson in his United days.

Ferguson was never a big fan of Beckham’s ever-changing hairstyles and he made the facts known to the player. United players feared Ferguson for his hairdryer treatment and always tried to be disciplined. However, there were certain incidents when the United manager went bashing players.
One such incident with Beckham happened in 2000. He came with a new hairstyle, a mohawk. Given the history of the coach, with his hairstyles, he feared to show the new hairstyle and wore a beanie during training and on the bus until they reached the stadium for the game. However, before the game, Beckham took off his beanie, revealing his mohawk. Ferguson wasn’t impressed and asked him immediately to shave off the head.
Recalling the incident, Beckham said, “Sure enough, within seconds of the unveiling, he yelled at me, ‘Go and shave it off!’ I thought he was joking. ‘No, I’m being serious, now go and shave the ruddy thing off!'” “So I had to find a pair of clippers and I shaved it off in Wembley Stadium. Manager always rules,” Inter Miami owner further added.

Despite giving a hairdryer treatment to the soccer star on many occasions, Beckham had a huge respect for the legendary manager. He was like a father figure to him in the dressing room. Beckham says Ferguson was the greatest and the best manager under whom he played.
Beckham arrived at the age of 16 at Manchester United. He made his debut in 1995 for the club as Ferguson showed a lot of confidence in him along with other youngsters who became part of the famous Class of 92 at United. He admires the manager for showing confidence in him and shaping his legendary soccer career.
