David Beckham is among the most renowned personalities around the globe. The former English soccer player enjoyed a stellar soccer career. Today, the player is still enjoying a spectrum of fame alongside his beloved wife Victoria Beckham.

The famous couple met in 1997 and soon started dating and soon after a year, both announced their engagement. Since then, the couple has been through thick and thin as they have been married for 22 years.

In the following years, both earned significant fame. The couple even shares four adorable kids. Together, the family is enjoying life to the fullest. But many of you might be wondering how these famous stars met each other. Well, it all started with a catsuit.

David Beckham on deciding to marry Victoria Beckham

The year was 2007. David Beckham was experiencing one of the best moments of his career. The player followed her wife’s footsteps to Los Angeles. The latter signed for MLS side LA Galaxy. Everything was planned by the duo. While the English legend was looking to kickstart his career in MLS, Victoria was poised to attack America with her brand.

She had a grin on her face after David paid a visit to his wife on the sets of Victoria Beckham: Coming to America. Victoria was walking hand in hand with David. At that point, one of the crew members asked where they lived in Beverly Hills, to which she replied, “The best.”

This wasn’t the end, as David himself gave a cheeky reply when they were once again questioned about how they met. “She stalked me,” he replied while her wife flexed her eyebrows. Soon, he admitted in a low voice, “I fancied her.”

Before their marriage, David insisted he knew Victoria was the one for him even before they met. The player recalls watching TV with his Manchester United teammate Gary Neville late in 1996 after a match. It was at that moment that the Spice Girls video came on the screen. Hence, spotting Victoria in a catsuit, he turned around Neville and said, “That one there, that’s the girl I’m going to marry.”

It was soon the player actually crossed paths with his future wife. The player was able to clinch her number, however, he recalls, he almost blew his chance during the first encounter.

Couldn’t greet the former Spice Girl

Back in February 1997, Victoria went to catch David in action, along with one of her bandmates, in London. Unfortunately, the player blew his chance as he couldn’t greet her. “I’m quite shy,” he said. “I just sort of waved from the other side of the bar.”

Even after Fuller introduced himself to Beckham and brought Victoria with him, David couldn’t ask her out. “I sort of said hello and then just went back to Manchester,” Beckham recalls. “I was quite upset and gutted,” he added.

However, the player soon got a chance, as just a week later, two Spice Girls came to watch the match. David recalls, “And I’m thinking, Please let it be Posh.” This time, he didn’t let the opportunity slip from his hands as he asked her for her phone number, which she wrote on a plane ticket.

The next day, he called her nervously and drove down to London to see her. And the rest is history, as the couple married in September 1999. Moreover, four months later, both of their lives were filled with joy after the birth of their first child, Brooklyn. Moreover, David revealed that, to this day, he has kept that plane ticket with himself.
