In his latest presser, Pep Guardiola shared his thoughts on his Bayern Munich spell. The manager said that the demand on him was to win the Champions League every year. Consequently, Guardiola added, “So I failed in Bayern Munich but didn’t win the Champions League.” The German giants are the only club where he couldn’t win the UCL. Yet, it is worth noting that Bayern Munich reached the UCL Semi-finals in the 3 seasons under his tenure. Interestingly, Manchester City didn’t reach the semi-finals once in his first 3 seasons!

The Spaniard added that he would have failed in Manchester City if not for goalkeeper Ederson. Pep Guardiola revealed, “I would have failed here if Ederson did not save the last minute against Lukaku so I have to accept it.” In last year’s UCL final, Inter Milan striker Romelu Laku had an easy opportunity to score a header and level things up. However, Ederson prevented a potential penalty shootout with a brilliant save. Otherwise, Manchester City would not have had a treble in their name.
