Everyone loves the story of an underdog. Ever since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the ownership of the Wrexham AFC, the Welsh club has been achieving new heights with each passing day. Fast forward to three years after Reynolds and McElhenney’s ownership, the Wrexham FC has become a sensation in the soccer world.
Notably, the team is officially promoted to the fourth division in the English soccer leagues by winning the National League. It was something that they hadn’t seen since 2008. And none other than the ex-coach of the Welsh club has seconded the same.

Along this incredible journey with Wrexham came Dean Saunders as a witness. The 58-year-old Welsh manager functioned as a coach for the team from 2008 until 2011. Recently, Dean Saunders had a chat with talkSport about the influences Reynolds and McElhenney have had on the club and his career.
Saunders replied in a positive way, talking about the popularity of the Red Dragons. “They’re massive in America, you can’t buy a shirt, in the airport in LA,” he said. “I think there’s posters everywhere about Wrexham”. He also believes the team can continue their promotion-winning ways. Additionally, Saunders jokingly said how he’s been getting much more pundit work due to them.

Further, when asked if his pundit career has been revived due to the owners, he firmly replied, “Oh yeah”.
Such applause and an optimistic outlook by Saunders certainly make the Hollywood duo’s efforts for the team much more worthwhile.
