The South American giants got their hands on the prestigious World Cup trophy after 36 years. In the latest Netflix documentary, an emotional and delighted Lionel Messi gave his ultimate message after winning the trophy he desperately wanted to win in his playing career.
The famous World Cup remains fresh in the minds of the players and fans. Argentinian fans couldn’t ask for more in the last few years because of the national team’s achievements, including winning the Copa America. Yet, this became the icing on the cake.

The aim was to win the prestigious trophy before retiring once and for all. He achieved the dream in 2022 with the win against France. After the win, La Pulga also had a moving message which has been shown in the Netflix Documentary, ‘Captains of the World.’ He said, “My dream was to win something with the international team, and in the end, I was lucky to win it all. Reaching the end, finishing like this, I couldn’t ask for more.”
The last two years overall have been great for Lionel Messi and his teammates. La Albiceleste, under the management of Lionel Scaloni, has won two notable trophies in the last two years. They won the Copa America trophy with a win against arch-Brazil on their soil. La Pulga scored four goals and provided five assists as the captain, led by example. Claudio Fabián Tapia, the president of the federation, has already announced his intention to honor the legacy of the 8-time Ballon d’Or winner. They plan to retire the No.10 jersey after the World Cup-winning captain retires from the national team. The federation is hoping that FIFA will permit them to retire the jersey.
