Getting nominated for this prestigious award is also an achievement in itself. But getting nominated after the performances in the first professional season is exceptional. USWNT sensation Trinity Rodman achieved the feat last year.

Her exceptional 2021 season with Washington Spirit made her in the top 20 list of nominees, and she finished 18th. It was her first Ballon d’Or ceremony in October 2022 in Paris, and the NWSL starlet was left star-struck by the gala ceremony.
Trinity Rodman amazed by Ballon d’Or ceremony
Rodman spoke about her nomination, other nominees, and the ceremony on the red carpet. Spirit starlet said, “I can’t even believe I was nominated for this. I respect all these players so much, and it’s incredible to be here.” The ceremony in Paris left the NWSL starlet star-struck.
Trinity Rodman finished 18th in the Ballon d’Or Feminin. Barcelona superstar Alexia Putellas won the coveted award for the second time. Karim Benzema won the award in the male category. It was his first Ballon d’Or in 2022 for the stellar 2021-22 season.

Rodman had an exceptional debut season in NWSL in 2021. She won the NWSL Championship with Spirit. The 20-year-old scored eight goals in her first season, with Spirit helping them win the title. She won the NWSL Rookie of the Year in 2021 and the US Soccer Player of the Year in 2021. They also named Rodman in NWSL Best Xi in 2021.
At 18, Rodman became the youngest-ever drafted player in the 2021 NWSL College Draft. Her stellar first season at Spirit earned her a new contract extension. Spirit made the starlet the highest-paid NWSL player with a new contract worth $1.1 million. The contract runs till 2024, with an option of one more year till 2025.

When Rodman was 8, Kobe paid a visit to see her playing. The NBA great was impressed with the way she played and labeled her stud. He walked to her and told her, “Girls can do everything guys can do.” It proved to be valuable advice for Rodman, who recalled it recently in an interview.
Rodman got valuable support from her mother during her childhood to pursue soccer as her career. The Spirit forward wants to imbibe the never give up attitude of her father Dennis Rodman.
