Not a lot of players can boast of securing consecutive promotions. Former Wrexham skipper Ben Tozer had a great run with the club as he helped them move the ranks of the English pyramid as the club moved from the National League to League One. The defender played a key role in the team’s backline with Phil Parkinson relying on the player to rally the troops.

However, there was a point in his career with the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned club where he felt he could keep doing this any longer. The player talked about his father’s death during his appearance on Ben Foster’s podcast. Tozer stated, “I went into see [Phil Parkinson] after and I just broke down. I broke down a few times in the dressing room, and again in the toilets; I didn’t want anyone seeing. I went in and just broke down to him and said, gaffer, I can’t do this anymore. I can’t do it.”

His run with the team was quite crucial as Tozer continued to be rock solid in the defense helping the team clinch the title. Tozer was released by Wrexham earlier this year as the team looks to revamp their squad.
