Besides her massive fame, Shakira has always been a mother first and foremost. She has always been vocal about how her two sons, Sasha and Milan, are the most important parts of her life. The hardships she faced and the sacrifices she made for them are truly remarkable. Speaking of, the Colombian recently shared the heart-rending story of her pregnancy time in an interview.

Even after her controversial breakup with Gerard Pique last year, the artist went to great lengths to win their custody. She did win custody and now is living happily with them in Miami. The mother of two opened up about the struggles she faced while she was pregnant with her first child, Milan.

Shakira had a lot on her plate during her first pregnancy

In a recent interview with El Pais, Shakira revealed how she had to juggle between work and personal life during her first pregnancy. The Colombian singer revealed how she was working intensely. “During the pregnancy, and it’s hard to understand, I worked 14 hours a day,” Shakira said. “I remember being on stage with my big belly, doing those typical moves that I do”.

Shakira’s schedule was so demanding that she had to schedule her C-section to her contractual obligations with the show ‘The Voice,’ where she was a judge at the time. She said, “I scheduled the C-section because I had a contract with The Voice”. Shakira did not let pregnancy slow her down, even after her delivery.

She entered the delivery room with makeup on, gave birth, and then took Milan with her everywhere she went “like those indigenous mothers who carry their children on their backs”. The 46-year-old also added, ” I breastfed him on the set of the show every three hours,” balancing her role as a mother with her professional duties.

However, the constant traveling and working took a toll on Shakira and Milan. Just months after Milan was born and ‘The Voice’ season 6 ended, the singer called quits from the show. Two years later they also welcomed Sasha into the family. Now all these years later both are looking to follow in their mother’s footsteps.

Shakira’s kids are currently future music artists in-making

It appears that Shakira’s innate musical talent has been passed down to her two children. At the tender ages of 10 and 8, they have already made their official music debut in Shakira’s most recent song, Acrostico. Shakira dedicated this heartfelt song to her children.

Both Milan and Sasha played the piano and contributed their vocals to this peaceful and heartfelt song. The result is a beautiful, musically accomplished piece that speaks volumes about the bond between mother and child. It seems we may be witnessing the birth of two remarkable young artists.
