There are many speculations regarding Messi’s future, with interest shown by his former club FC Barcelona, MLS club Inter Miami owned by soccer legend David Beckham, and Saudi League also potentially interested.

The chances of the Argentine staying in PSG look slim after the Parisians suffered a Round of 16 loss to Bayern Munich, ending Lionel Messi’s dream to win the Champions League for the fifth time. However, it looks like Lionel Messi’s time in Europe is not yet over.

Lionel Messi to stay in Europe

As of now, things seem like Messi will be staying in Europe. This is according to Argentine journalist Gaston Edul, who has claimed that Messi will not be heading to MLS. “I assure that it was not the last Champions League of Messi,” Edul said. “I read everywhere [on social media] that it was his last, but it’s not”.

Edul is adamant that Messi will not be moving to MLS and that he will stay in Europe to compete in the Champions League next season. “I assure that he will play in the next Champions League,” he added. “He stays in Europe.” This will come as a huge disappointment to Beckham and Inter Miami, who were hoping to make a marquee signing that would help take the MLS to new heights.

Messi is yet to renew his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. And with his future up in the air, it seems Inter Miami and MLS will have to wait a little longer to land the potentially biggest signing in the history of the league.
