After a joyous week, Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates’ good days have come to an end. Once again Al Nassr and its management are facing scrutiny after losing the opening two games of the Saudi Pro League. While the team’s boss is empathizing with ardent fans, he has also made a huge claim about his future.

It was just a few days ago that the Jeddah-based side clinched the Arab Club Champions League Cup. However, they seem to have derailed from their winning form, with gaffer Luis Castro talking about the process of building a squad and its consequences.

After stealing the trophy from Al Hilal, Al Nassr quickly went back to play the SPL fixture. The first one was played without their star skipper Ronaldo, and they lost 2-1 against Al Ettifaq. The next fixture against Al Taawoun saw CR7 back in the lineup. However, that barely made any difference as they lost 2-0. Al Nassr fans are understandably worried about the team’s form. But the manager Luis Castro understands the pain of the supporters.

Following the second consecutive defeat, the Portuguese manager addressed the pain of the fans. He said, “I am saddened by the grief of Al Nassr fans, and the current work has great consequences for the future.” Previously, in a press conference, Castro had said, “Everyone talks about whether there is a player who should play or not, but I am responsible here!”  hitting out fans who questioned his managerial choices.

While empathizing with the fans, Castro hinted that his way of working has its own repercussions. Perhaps, it’s a hint that if the poor form continues then Al Nassr might be forced to make some tough calls. On the other hand, Castro is also cognizant of the process of building a team, which takes time. Remarkably, Luis Castro was appointed as the Jeddah-based club manager on July 6th. The 61-year-old signed a two-year contract till 2025.

Within a few months of arrival, however, Castro already seems to be uncertain about his future. For now, he isn’t going anywhere as he must be looking to turn things around alongside Ronaldo and Co.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. looking for a bounce back

Al Nassr started their SPL campaign on the wrong foot. After playing two matches, they have accumulated zero points and are in 15th place. This certainly diminishes Ronaldo’s domestic title hopes as he was hoping to win this time, having missed the title last year. The Arab Club Champions isn’t the only thing that CR7 wants to win with his side.

Nevertheless, this is just the start of the season as there’s still a lot of time to climb the domestic ladder. But Al Nassr must climb quickly if they don’t want to endure another upsetting season. It remains to be seen how they manage to do that.
