Just last week, Cristiano Ronaldo and his Al Nassr teammates won their first trophy together. Soccer, however, evolves and shapeshifts with each week, as the Jeddah-based club was quickly derailed from its winning form. Al Nassr’s gaffer, Luis Castro, has found himself in the middle of the storm and is facing sharp questions over his coaching decisions.
The smiles after winning the Arab Club Champions League quickly turned into dejected faces following back-to-back losses. As the team struggles to end this sour patch, let’s hear what the Al Nassr manager has to say in his defense.

Following the cup win, Al Nassr played their domestic fixture against Al Ettifaq. The game ended in an unfortunate 2-1 loss. Notably, skipper Ronaldo missed out due to a knee injury. The losing streak continued against Al Taawoun despite CR7’s presence on the pitch. While the team will look at upcoming fixtures as a ray of hope, their coach Luis Castro is surrounded by dissent.

Castro is being questioned over his coaching decisions, which has forced the Portuguese manager to make a stiff declaration. In a recent press conference, he said, “Everyone talks about that there is a player who should play or not, but I am responsible here!” The 61-year-old has hit out at people who are pointing fingers over his managerial choices.
Perhaps, the coach isn’t liking any kind of uninvited negative feedback. While Castro and his lads surely realize they have not made a great start, the manager doesn’t want his tactical approaches to be skepticized. Be that as it may, it was quite a bold statement from Castro. Meanwhile, their domestic form has brought Ronaldo’s championship hopes to a knife edge.

Championship aspirations hang in the balance for Cristiano Ronaldo
Whether questioning Castro’s coaching judgments are healthy or not, it only matters what the result is at the end of ’90. However, one thing is certain; this isn’t the best start the Jeddah-based club has made in the Saudi Pro League. After losing the opening two matches, they are struggling in their domestic campaign.
Moreover, Ronaldo’s championship aspirations also hang in the balance. Now, the only thing left for them is to reflect on their poor form and bounce back to the top of their game. Else then, the critique will continue for both the coaches and the team.
