Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are no less than silver foxes. Despite aging, the two undisputable GOATs of the beautiful game continue to rock the boat. While the debate will never seem to grow old among ardent fans, looks like the fever has even reached the realm of Hollywood. The latest to jump on the bandwagon is revered actor Hugh Jackman, who pledged an alliance with CR7 over La Pulga that somehow left fellow actor Ryan Reynolds disappointed.

The Deadpool and Wolverine stars were invited for an exclusive interview on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE during their time in Germany. At the start of the interview, host Rio Ferdinand introduced his two guests as the ‘Messi and Ronaldo of Hollywood.’ While Jackman and Reynolds looked at each other in disbelief, the Manchester United icon asked which one of them considers themselves to be Messi and Ronaldo.

Interestingly, Hugh quickly raised his hand by saying, “I’ll put my head up first,” to which Ryan sarcastically responded, “Okay, go ahead. Who are you? This will go well for you.” Surprisingly enough, the Australian took advantage of deciding it for himself and replied, “Obviously Ronaldo. Just in terms of followers, in terms of owning the social media space.” Of course, this didn’t settle with Reynolds, who responded, with a lighthearted jibe, “Oh God! You are the Hugh Jackman of professional football. That’s who you are.”

Ironically, Reynolds has 51.7m followers on Instagram, compared to Jackman, who boasts just 31.8m followers. Meanwhile, Ronaldo has 634m, while Messi has 504m followers. With this theory, Reynolds should be the Ronaldo of Hollywood. Perhaps that’s why the Canadian wasn’t happy to see Jackman give himself this tag and trolled the Australian actor over his verdict. However, does it also indicate that the Wrexham owner wished to get the tag of the Portuguese star instead? Well, his previous take on the GOAT debate may suggest a different story.

Back in 2022, Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney gave their opinions on the GOAT debate. Speaking to Sports Illustrated, McElhenney quickly named the Argentinian superstar. He jokingly revealed that Messi’s ‘size‘ was what made the actor pick the former PSG star. Interestingly, Reynolds also agreed with his fellow co-owner’s answer. Yet, that didn’t mean the Deadpool star wasn’t fond of the Portuguese superstar.

“I do not sleep on Ronaldo. They’re both unbelievable athletes. But I think I’d also take Messi.” This certainly clarifies that Reynolds’ lack of enthusiasm for Hugh Jackman’s self-designation as the Ronaldo of Hollywood wasn’t due to wanting the title for himself but was rather a taunt aimed at the Wolverine star. Meanwhile, Jackman’s preference for Ronaldo is also clear.
