The name Ryan Reynolds has been in the headlines for quite some time. The Hollywood star, along with Rob McElhenney, bought a soccer club, Wrexham AFC, back in February 2021.

The duo took over the club that was struggling for quite a long time. However, since then, the club is back on its feet and has done wonders. They are not the only personalities to buy a sports team, as, over the years, we’ve heard about many celebrities and athletes investing in different ventures.

Recently, Serena Williams became the owner of the women’s soccer team Angel City. Moreover, NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes also became a co-owner of KC Current club. Hence, superstars investing in teams has become a mainstream fashion.

However, there’s one famous VIP from whom neither of us had expected he’ll be an owner of a sports team.

Ryan Reynolds’ name rings a bell

Last month, famous actor Will Arnett was called on NBC’s “Men in Blazers” soccer show. During the conversation, the star revealed one of the most hilarious moments with former NFL star Marshawn Lynch.

Arnett said that Lynch, along with U.S. soccer player Sam Mewis, were part of the live commentary and recap show, Back of the Net: 2022 World Cup.

Hence, during one of their series, Mewis suggested that all three should together buy a soccer team, just like Ryan and Rob. All three agreed, but just at that moment, Lynch said that he was already a part-owner of a soccer club.

“Marshawn Lynch is the greatest guy,” Arnett said. “I love Marshawn Lynch so much. And we were eight days into doing the show, and Sam says, ‘Should the three of us buy, like McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, should we buy a team?’ And I go, ‘Absolutely,’ and Marshawn goes, ‘Oh, s**t, I forgot to tell you guys: I’m part owner of a team.” he said.

“I go ‘Marshawn, we’ve been doing this show every day for eight days, how the f**k are you telling us this now?’ And he goes, ‘Oh, yeah, this is the sweatshirt for it.’”

This was a classic yet hilarious response from the big-old Lynch.

Which team does Lynch own?

Marshawn is perhaps one of the greatest footballers in NFL history. Besides making a career as a pro-NFL running back, he had a keen interest in soccer. Hence, back in April 2021, the 36-year-old became a co-owner of a California-based club, Oakland Roots.

“Growing up in The Town, we always could count on the pro teams in this area, but with most of those ones that I grew up with gone, I knew the minute I heard about the opportunity to join Oakland Roots, it wasn’t just something I wanted to do,” said Lynch. “It was something I had to do.”

The soccer club was founded in 2018 and later joined the USL in September 2020. This is not the only investment he has, as the former Seattle Seahawks man has many ventures. Nonetheless, it was a truly hilarious moment that made many people laugh.
