The soccer world was left disheartened after Real Madrid player Toni Kroos announced his retirement recently. With almost every title to his name, the German superstar was one of the stalwarts for both Los Blancos as well as Die Mannschaft. Kroos will play his last game wearing the white jersey in club soccer tomorrow after appearing 717 times in senior club games and 464 times for Madrid.

Although the fans will miss the star ahead, his biggest cheerleaders are his children. The kids were recently seen as very expressive about the German’s decision. The midfielder’s personal life lit up after he joined Real Madrid in 2014 with the arrival of his first child. Kroos married his long-term partner Jessica Farber and received Leon Kroos in August 2015, the same year in which he founded the Toni Kroos Foundation, which helps children in need. The first of three children, Leon did not like the decision of his father to retire from soccer. Kroos is also set to make his final appearance for Germany on home soil at the Euros.

Jessica and Kroos then had their next child in 2016. Amelie Kroos was born in July and was seen bursting into tears during his last La Liga game against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu. It was the daughter who was happy to see her father retire so that they could spend more time riding horses. However, she and her siblings realized that the icon would not have those moments again. Kroos welcomed his third and last child, Fin Kroos, in 2019.

Like any other father, the love Toni Kroos has for his children is incredible. After his daughter’s tears during his farewell, Kroos stated, “I was strong until I saw my children, that killed me.” The children were being consoled by their father when he was substituted and also took a lap of honor around the stadium with the three of them. Toni has tattoos of Leon on his right forearm and Ami’s on his left as a tribute.

Overall, it is the end of an era for Real Madrid fans. Kroos is one of their most successful players, having won 5 Champions League titles, seven league titles apart from the glorious World Cup. Individually, he won the German Footballer of the Year award in 2018 and proved to be one of the most valuable players of this generation. With Kroos’ retirement moving many players, the question remains whether his children will inherit his passion for the sport.
