While she announced her intentions to officially bid farewell to the beautiful game, the San Diego Waves star disclosed that she is pregnant. The 35-year-old disclosed that she is expecting another child with her husband Servando Carrasco. Although the announcement was made at a rather emotional time—trying to get a grip on the fact that she wouldn’t be kicking the ball anymore—it still marks a crucial moment in her life.

“Charlie is gonna be a big sister. I’m pregnant,” she said while announcing her retirement in the 4:30 minute-long video. “As unexpected as this came, we’re so overjoyed. To me family means everything. I wouldn’t be here without my husband and family.” Expecting another child, Morgan could have taken maternity leave from soccer. However, she eventually decided to hang up her boots to become a full-time mom.

Speaking more about the upcoming child’s elder sister, Charlie was born on May 7, 2020, almost six years after Morgan and Carrasco tied the knot in 2014. Back in October 2019, the couple broke the news on Instagram that they were expecting their first child and even revealed its gender. They posted a picture of a beach while posing with their dogs with a letter board that read, “Adding 1 more to the fam…April 2020 #BabyGirl.”

On the occasion of Charlie’s third birthday, Morgan shared a picture while posing alongside her husband and daughter wearing a pink dress. She wrote a caption saying, “And just like that, our girl is 3! She’s officially entered the princess era 🧜🏽‍♀️🧚✨.” The 4-year-old often makes appearances on her parent’s social media. 

She often accompanies them to the stadium, watching both her mother and father in action. Earlier, during San Diego Wave’s NWSL Challenge Cup triumph, little Charlie also came on the pitch to celebrate her mother’s achievement. No wonder the little one aspires to tread in her parent’s footsteps to become a professional soccer player.

While bursting out over announcing her sad retirement, Alex Morgan disclosed an interesting career choice that Charlie seeks to take up. “Charlie came up to me the other day and said when she grows up she wants to be a soccer player.” Hearing this thought from soon-to-be elder sister’s mouth, the iconic forward felt ‘immensely proud.’

It’s not that Morgan wants her daughter to pursue a soccer career when she grows up. The NWSL legend is pleased to see that even a 4-year-old knows a pathway exists to make a profession in women’s soccer, something that hasn’t gained much fandom. “The impact we have on the next generation is irreversible and I’m proud of the hand I have in making that happen,” said the former Tottenham star.

No pressure on Charlie to take up the beautiful game. But it looks like she is quite inspired by her mother’s stellar career and its achievements. Regardless, the toddler surely has the best coach one could possibly have as Morgan would surely shape out a remarkable career for Charlie.
