Can Ronaldo become Al-Nassr's all-time top scorer, or is age finally catching up with him?

Nothing can stop Cristiano Ronaldo from scoring goals. Be it for fun or chasing records, the Portuguese superstar makes everything look so easy. Similar was the case today during the Saudi Pro League fixture against Al Wehda after he again found the back of the net by slotting in from the spot. While the goal show hasn’t stopped since the day he arrived at the club, how far Ronaldo actually is from becoming Al Nassr’s top-scorer?

For context, today’s penalty goal in Matchday 5 was the 39-year-old’s 70th goal for the Knights of the Najd. While this is certainly a significant milestone in his Saudi chapter that began in early 2023, what if we told you that the legendary striker is reportedly quite far from being the club’s top scorer?

As of now, Mohammed Al-Sahlawi is the top scorer of Al Nassr. Currently playing for Saudi’s lower division side Al-Safa FC, Al-Sahlawi has scored a total of 121 goals in over 257 appearances. Taking second place is Abderrazak Hamdallah, who netted 112 goals in 108 games, a good goal-and-match ratio by the current Al-Shabab FC forward. But where does Ronaldo stand on the list?

Well, a sigh of relief for the Real Madrid icon comes from the fact that he isn’t far away. Cristiano Ronaldo currently trails behind Anderson Talisca by just a single goal and takes fourth place on the list of Al Nassr’s list of all-time goalscorers. While Talisca scored 71 goals in 93 games, Ronaldo has scored 70 goals in 71 games. This surely makes his ratio better than any other of the other players that are above him.

But who knows, until the end of the season, we might witness the former Juventus man level the record of any top 2 goalscorers in Al Nassr’s history. That surely won’t be an easy task but if he continues to find his name on the scoresheet in almost every match, then we may see him etch his name in the history books. That way, he may go for another significant record!

How long to go for Cristiano Ronaldo until he becomes the all-time Saudi Pro League top-scorer?

Earlier, recently sacked Al Nassr manager Luis Castro backed Cristiano Ronaldo to target the Saudi Pro League all-time topscorer record. “I spoke with the players about helping Cristiano Ronaldo to be the all-time top scorer in the Saudi League,” shared the former Porto boss in an interview last season. Now where does he stand in this regard?

Well, Majed Abdullah holds the prestigious title of the top scorer in the Saudi League, having scored 186 goals in 194 matches throughout his illustrious 20-year career. In contrast, Ronaldo has netted 70 goals in 71 matches over the span of just two seasons and the beginning of a third. Considering that this is likely his final stint, it seems unlikely that he will reach Abdullah’s milestone.

Not to mention his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025, which means he has this season to make the most of his time at the club. If he aims to become Al Nassr’s top scorer or the Saudi League’s top scorer, the Manchester United icon will need time. For now, let’s see where he stands at the end of this campaign.
