In shocking news from the soccer world, former Sheffield United defender George Baldock passed away at 31. The soccer fraternity cannot believe what happened, as Baldock’s demise was untimely. While multiple soccer players collapse on the pitch and lose their lives, unfortunately, the cause of Baldock’s death is something different.
The police officials found his body in a swimming pool of his house in Glyfada, southern Athens. Despite attempts to resuscitate him at the scene, the medical officials could not review his life and confirmed his death according to reports from the BBC. The entire soccer community is in shock and his family issued a statement: “We can confirm that George has sadly passed away. As a family, we are in shock at this terrible loss.”
Notably, his wife tried searching for him for several hours and couldn’t find the soccer player. Unsure of what to do, his wife reached out to the property owner for assistance in locating the player. Sadly, the owner saw him dead in the swimming pool, which shocked everyone. As per various reports, Baldock drowned in the swimming pool for several hours until the units arrived.

Notably, there are no indications of foul play in the incident. Moreover, there will be an official statement on Thursday regarding the passing of the soccer player. To understand the cause of death, the concerned medical authorities will conduct an autopsy like a normal process. Still, it’s just heartbreaking to see a player lose his life at a young age. With so much promise, the rose wilted away too soon.
Aiming to start afresh, the player had just joined the Greek side Panathinaikos in the summer transfer window. He spent 7 years with Sheffield United, becoming a mainstay in the defense and, of course, making acquaintances with teammates. However, this news shocked the soccer community, who reacted on social media to pay their respects.
