In a recent statement, Tata Martino stressed on the fixture congestion which entails six games in an 18-day span in the league, including the pivotal US Open Cup final.

The Argentine coach shared a statement quoting, “Every player on our roster wants to play every match. That is the mentality of our group. We have a lot of important matches in a short window of time, and one of my responsibilities as the coach is to care for my players and help them make the hard decisions”. Martino highlighted that Lionel Messi rejoined the extensive training with the first team, hours before their MLS game in DRV PNK stadium. However, an evaluation on his fitness would be done further.

The ex-PSG forward’s status on his injury would be assessed in advance of the kick-off. Tata Martino also added, “Regarding Messi and Alba, both players will train in the full session today and with the team, and after that, we’ll see if they’re available to play and to what extent.” Miami fans expressed discontent with La Pulga’s choice to sit out the game against Atlanta, citing concerns about the artificial surface at Mercedes Benz Stadium.
