It seems Inter Miami has found a cheat code after an abysmal start to the MLS season. From struggling at the bottom of the MLS table to being in contention for the second trophy, the Herons are riding high. And that’s because they cracked the Lionel Messi code. After propelling the Vice City to the Leagues Cup, the Argentine has sent the club to the US Open Cup final. 

However, the significant form of David Beckham’s club has also helped the players tremendously. The reports emerged hours before the US Open Cup semifinal against FC Cincinnati that two youngsters are in contention for the provisional September roster of the USMNT.

Are Inter Miami youngsters on the USMNT roster?

The US soccer insider Doug McIntyre came up with a crucial update before Inter Miami took on Cincinnati. Accordingly, uncapped Inter Miami starters Drake Callender and Ben Cremaschi are in the provisional USMNT squad for the September friendlies. Greg Berhalter has prepared a list of 50 players, and Callendar, with 18 YO Cremaschi, is part of it. It doesn’t guarantee their selection to the final roster, though.

Cremaschi scored a winning penalty against Cincinnati in the US Open semifinal to fire the club into the final. His selection has caught the eye. He is eligible to play for USMNT and Argentina. Also, the midfielder represented U-20 teams of both nations, too. Recently, he shared the details of speaking to Messi about which team to play for in the future. Cremaschi will have to go through a thought process before arriving at the final decision.

The question is whether the presence of Lionel Messi and Gerard Tata Martino will affect the decision. Cremaschi is becoming a regular starter for Inter Miami and is impressing. USMNT will look to recruit the upcoming star to secure the future with lots of youngsters as part of the plans. USMNT will play Uzbekistan and Oman next month. The eyes will be on August 30 to see whether the youngster duo of Inter Miami makes it to the final roster.

The Vice City won its name on the first-ever trophy recently. After Messi propelled them to their first title, the Herons are in contention for the second trophy. After the dismal start to the MLS season, Miami is unbeaten in the last eight games where Messi appeared. The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is climbing the goalscoring ladder with 10 to his name in those eight games.

The fans will be optimistic for a massive turnaround in the MLS, though. The Herons are last in the East Conference with 18 points. It will be an uphill task for the club to reach the playoff places. Currently, the club is 14 points away from the playoff place, and with Messi on its side, fans will hope for a turnaround in the remaining season to play in the playoffs.
